Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses UseTimio — owners, admins and members alike. It exists mainly to protect the people whose attendance is being recorded, and the other organizations sharing the platform.

1. General conduct

You must not use the platform to:

  • Break any law that applies to you, or help someone else break one.
  • Infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other rights.
  • Impersonate another person, organization or UseTimio itself.
  • Store or transmit malware, or anything designed to damage a system or intercept data.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or that sexualises or endangers a minor.

2. Using the platform on other people

Attendance tracking involves recording people. The following are not permitted, and an account doing them will be suspended:

  • Enrolling people, or recording their location or biometrics, without telling them.
  • Making biometric enrolment a condition of work or membership with no alternative check-in method.
  • Using the platform to track people outside the working or service context it was sold for.
  • Using attendance or location data to harass, stalk, intimidate or unlawfully discriminate against anyone.
  • Uploading a member list you have no lawful basis to hold.
  • Sharing another person’s attendance record with anyone who has no legitimate reason to see it.

3. Email and SMS

Bulk messaging is provided so you can reach your own staff and members. It is not a marketing platform.

  • Message only people who have a relationship with your organization and expect to hear from you.
  • Do not send purchased, scraped or rented contact lists.
  • Do not send phishing, deceptive sender names, chain messages, or anything promoting fraud.
  • Honour opt-outs promptly, and do not re-add someone who has unsubscribed.
  • Comply with the Nigerian Communications Commission rules and any other messaging law that binds you.

Spam damages the sending reputation every customer on the platform shares, so we treat it seriously and act fast.

4. Technical limits

You must not:

  • Attempt to access another organization’s workspace, data or account.
  • Probe, scan or test the platform’s security without our prior written permission — see the disclosure process under Security Practices.
  • Circumvent seat limits, plan restrictions, trials or usage quotas.
  • Scrape the platform, or drive it with automated traffic that degrades it for others.
  • Reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense or white-label the service without our written agreement.
  • Share a single login between multiple people to avoid paying for seats.

5. Attendance integrity

Falsifying attendance undermines the product for everyone. Checking in on another person’s behalf, sharing check-in codes to defeat presence verification, or tampering with device or location signals is prohibited. The platform records the method and device used for each check-in precisely so that organizations can detect this, and an admin who overrides a record leaves an audit trail.

6. How we enforce this

Where we believe this policy has been broken, our response is proportionate:

  1. For most issues, we contact the organization owner and ask for it to be corrected.
  2. We may throttle or disable a specific feature, such as bulk messaging, while it is investigated.
  3. For serious or repeated breaches — or anything that endangers people, data or the platform — we suspend the account immediately and explain why.
  4. We may terminate the account and, where the law requires it, report the matter to the authorities.

Suspension for a breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund of the remaining subscription period. If you believe we have acted wrongly, reply to the notice we sent and we will review it.

7. Reporting misuse

If you believe an organization is misusing UseTimio — including to monitor people improperly — email info@usetimio.com with as much detail as you can. Reports are treated confidentially, and we do not disclose the reporter’s identity to the organization concerned.
